Night photography is no mean thing and the latest attempts have been more than challenging and even a tad disappointing. Motivation is great when it is there... The only thing is that to fuel it and actually get there can sometimes prove to be arduous. Technology can sometimes help - this comes from a technology unfriendly person who tries very hard not to be scared by anything that switches on and off - so Santa had the great idea to leave at the foot of the Christmas tree laden with bright decorations a nice-looking tripod.
For the record: that IS a piece of technology for me, don't mind the fact that it does not switch on.
And that, my friends, did motivate the unexperienced photographers in da house. Testing here and there started with high hopes and after a series of mishaps, we got the message: from where we stand - and with the camera tightly screwed on the tripod - outdoor night photography we can try and sometimes even enjoy. Indoor photography, without flash of course and on full Manual mode, will be for another time. Can't win them all, especially when faced with aperture, white balance, sensitivity and all these mean things that will bite your calf as soon as you turn your back and let alone close one eye.
