With the hot weather slowly but surely settling in, BBQs are back in town - yes, in town, right where they are forbidden, how can that be?! - and "aperitivo" time is on the agenda, whether it's in the garden for the luckiest of us, on the balcony or...indoor with all windows wide open to give the illusion of outdoorsy life. The bottom line is: get your cocktails and snacks ready, wear your best panama and smile with friends and family!
This is exactly what we did during the Easter holidays, somewhere down south, near the Atlantic ocean, once lovely evening on the porch. The wooden table was laden with good things, fresh findings everyone was ready to dive into with light sesame "grissini" or "rétrodor" baguette. In one of the little cups, a white cream gently speckled with green bits was begging to be tried while rocking the teak chair. And so it was, very happily too.
Here is the recipe, if one may call it a "recipe" - so simple and even more than simple if you think it was inspired by one of those tips you find inside the Saint Môret packaging - what do you know, hun?
-Ingredients:
-150 grams cream cheese - think Saint Môret or Philadelphia (the latter is the cream cheese of my childhood, we even have photographic proof of my baby self with Philadelphia all over the face... blink-blink)
-One echalote or a small bunch of chives: the choice may not depend so much on taste as on chromatic preferences... I would go for the green dots!
-Sea salt and pepper to taste
-Pinch of Spanish smoked paprika
-A small tin of tuna in olive oil: drain the tuna before using...you do not want oil to floating around in the dip.
-How to: well, if I am being honest, there is really no need here for a "how to" section, as you can easily imagine. Just chop your chives or slice your echalote very finely and then toss everything into a bowl, mix well until you obtain a nice texture, easy to spread on the carbs of your choice.
And let me tell you that given the easy to shop ingredients and the über simple way to assemble them all, this is perfect for a mid-week improvised get-together (minus your boss, otherwise the magic won't work). Summer is here, can you tell?
