We had stopped in the little deli shop before to grab a raspberry cookie for baby and a lemon pie slice for dad who also managed to grab three grapefruits instead of the actual fruit juice - ok, the lady behind the counter was very kind.
While munching away the treats, we took our time to devour with greedy eyes the colorful jam collections and organic products on the shelves of the ground floor boutique. It was tempting and the space very welcoming, all in white and nonetheless cosy and comforting.
So much so that mom and I decided to go back for a girls' lunch - no baby, no men.
The first floor is decorated very simply with just a few colors, a couple of tables and mirrors to give the impression of space and two lovely windows that look onto the lively street. It is neat and straightforward - no frills, no fuss, just like the plain black and white logo and fresh food combos on the menu, nicely put together from the organic garden and market. Portions did vary a lot based on the order and to prove you that the frosted lemon cake is to die for, suffice to say that I ordered a slice even though I had already tried it during our first visit at the deli. This time, I topped it off with a GOOD, creamy, REAL cappuccino, the holy grail, and I am glad I tried it. Before leaving, I also grabbed a jam jar to offer a dear friend I had not seen in...20 years.
The crowd was not really fun though since most people around us were there on working lunches, which is strange given the place fell and layout... They have probably thought we were the strange couple in the house, which puts everything into perspective right away. Anyway, aside from the business talk, there was a light breeze playing springtime under the rain coming through the window... Just enough to blow away all practicalities and bring additional colors onto our plates.
