Cold Water {At the Spa}

Pushing open the spa doors was like free falling in perfect Alice in Wonderland style in a cosy, soft cocoon of sensual scents and textures. Nothing too outrageous, nothing vulgar. The humming of running water among green banana leaves, veils swaying in the hawaiian breeze, dried fruit bowls here and there and...glass jugs filled with fresh water and juicy slices of lemon, orange, cucumber...

Miles away from that blissful Hawaiian spa retreat, ginger slices and whole strawberries float in my own transparent jar - a standby of mine for years now - together with strawberry iced tea. Other tried and tested European home made versions include: strawberry iced tea and mint leaves, lemon and ginger tea with...lemon and ginger slices. When making iced teas, sugar needs to be added when steeping the tea leaves in sufficient quantities to bring welcome depth of flavors as the cold temperature will smooth its taste.

Next to be tried: cucumber and basil in ice cold water (so forget the tea).

Some ideas travel well.
