I am watching...

Driving Miss Daisy is one of those delicate flowers that are on the brink of extinction. It is a movie about human beings as different as they can be, about their feelings and their evolution once their destinies cross the same path. Suffice to say that the plot takes place in the prejudiced 1960s American South, that Miss Daisy is an elderly Jewish lady, while her driver, Mr. Hoke Coleburn, is an African-American. From the onset, you wonder what are the odds of success with such a risky combination.

The dynamics is definitely not new, but this does not make the movie less touching: the elderly miss Daisy (played with amazing talent by Jessica Tandy) will find a reliable friend for the rest of her life in her...driver (Morgan Freeman - he's so much better here than in any other action movie...). The person she first sees as an intruder becomes a steadfast presence and ally, even though - and this is key - both characters remain very different in essence. They learn to respect each other, their differences and feelings.

Shouldn't all relationships be like this?
