The Eternal Student? {Drive In}

Sometimes I do things without really thinking or following a given pattern or one of those self-inflicted to-do lists I live by. Is this maybe a survival instinct in our over organized lives?

Anyhow, this is how I came across the movie Frances Ha while downloading rented movies via iTunes (and following one of the afore-mentioned lists, by the way). A few lines described the plot and I needed to read no more.

Young Frances is, well, young: she does not really have any plans and tries to be part of a dance company, co-renting in NYC and switching topics in her conversation with the ease of a 10-year old.

Until she realizes that the world and the people around her change, that it may be time to grow up, accept new challenges and find her own direction. This may well mean - as most of us have experienced - taking the long road to get there, but in the end this may be the price to pay to really become who you want to be. Frances manages to stick with the company, put together her own modern dance show and...start living on her own, in her own place.

The B&W movie is funny, sad, always compelling and even though Frances did get on my nerves at times, the whole is extremely gratifying and makes you want to believe even more in your dreams and the means to achieve them.

Now I am curious: have you heard about this movie?
